Visa is hiring a Sr SW Engineer (Java Fullstack) in IN - Bengaluru.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to interpret requirements for project components and incorporate feedback into future designs or solution fixes.
- Translate business requirements by verifying assumptions and escalating potential design issues to appropriate stakeholders.
- Participate in system design and architecture, refining code plans and contributing to design documentation.
- Contribute to project estimation and escalate issues that may cause delays.
- Develop, implement, and maintain code for products, services, or components, applying coding patterns, guidelines, and best practices.
- Apply debugging tools to verify assumptions and proactively flag issues before they occur.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure coding standards are followed and address routine pull requests.
- Create test plans and configure testing procedures to identify and resolve defects for multiple features.
- Respond to support requests during on-call rotations, troubleshooting issues and deploying fixes under guidance.
- Leverage and build knowledge of software developer tools to create, debug, and maintain code for components.
- Remain current in skills by investing time in training resources to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree, OR 5+ years of relevant work experience.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable full-stack applications across the complete software development life cycle.
- Build and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, JPA, and Hibernate.
- Develop responsive user interfaces using Angular or React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Design and consume APIs using REST, SOAP, JSON, XML, OpenAPI/Swagger, and secure integration patterns.
- Work with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, or MySQL, including query optimization, indexing, and data modeling.
- Work with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, Couchbase, or Redis.
- Support data migration and data pipeline activities, including data extraction, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and production cutover.
- Implement and support event-driven and asynchronous processing using Kafka, RabbitMQ, IBM MQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Azure Service Bus.
- Contribute to active-active, high-availability, disaster recovery, and resiliency implementations, including failover testing, replication, load balancing, and zero/minimal downtime deployments.
- Use DevOps tools such as Git, Bitbucket/Stash, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, SonarQube, Artifactory, and Nexus.
- Build and deploy cloud-native services using Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift, Helm, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Follow secure coding practices and implement authentication/authorization using OAuth2, OpenID Connect, JWT, SAML, and other enterprise security standards.
- Create unit, integration, API, UI, and regression tests using tools such as JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber, Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman, or Newman.
- Use observability tools such as Splunk, ELK/OpenSearch, Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, AppDynamics, or New Relic for monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting.
- Apply GenAI tools responsibly to improve software engineering productivity, including code generation, test automation, documentation, troubleshooting, and code review.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience building and testing enterprise-scale web services (minimum one year).
- Experience working on client-facing project or technical teams (minimum one year).
- Experience in integrating feedback into design and solution fixes.
- Experience in mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
